Used with Ritchies enhancer, safale us05 and shorted to 20L. 10 days in the bucket, two weeks in the bottle (one carbonation drop/500ml).
Came out somewhere between 5 &5.5%, great body, thick head that leaves tidemarks on the glass. Great stuff. On the bitter end of stouts but that suits a non-nitro imo.
Definitely cellar temp serve with this one, goes straight to the bitter finish when fridge cold, skipping all the coffee/chocolate middle.
Gets better the longer it sits, have a few bottles knocking about that must be a month conditioned, have gotten very complex & rich. would be a great base for an imperial, dump a few kg fermentables and forget about it for a few months.
Would give it 4.75 star if I could, as the pouch can be tricky to rinse with boiling water. Does keep the price down I suppose, and can't knock it a whole star for that.
The elements are under the false bottom, making mashing and cleaning easier. The tap has a safety catch to prevent accidental opening, and the lid is glass, to allow you to see inside. All in all, a sturdy, well designed product. It's not cheap to buy but it is good value.
