MANGROVE JACKS RECIPE RANGE BEER KITS

The Mangrove Jack’s Recipe Range gives home brewers the freedom to build their own extract beer kits from a simple, flexible system.

Start with one of six hopped liquid malt extract bases, each supplied with standard yeast so you can brew it as a standalone simple kit, or customise your beer with a Brew Enhancer and one of ten flavour-led Hop Blends. That means you can create everything from lager, pale ale and IPA through to bitter, amber ale and stout, all without the time or equipment needed for an all-grain brew.

The Hop Blends are built around flavour profiles rather than individual varieties, making it easier to choose the character you want in the finished beer. Each pack still tells you exactly which hops are included, in what quantities, and their alpha acid levels.

The four Brew Enhancers let you adjust body, strength, colour and bitterness. The Light & Hoppy version, for example, is designed to add a drier finish and a more assertive bitterness.

Brew instructions

Recipe

  1. Clean and sanitise your fermenter, lid, airlock and mixing paddle with your preferred sanitiser before you start.
  2. Remove the lid, yeast sachet and can label. Stand the can in warm water for 10 minutes to soften the extract.
  3. In your sanitised fermenter, mix 2L of boiling water with your . Open the can, add the contents and rinse the can. Stir well.
  4. Top up to 20L total with cold water to reach 20–25°C. Sprinkle onto the surface, leave for 10–15 minutes, then stir.
  5. Fit the airlock and grommet, then seal the fermenter. Ferment at 18–22°C for best results.
  6. After 3–5 days, check your SG. When it reaches 1.020 or below, add — do not stir. Seal the fermenter and leave for 2–3 days until bubbling stops.
  7. After 7 days, or when bubbling ceases, take an SG reading and compare it with the FG target of 1.010 (±0.002). Wait 48 hours and take a second SG reading.
  8. CriticalDo not bottle until fermentation is complete. Fermentation is complete only when both SG readings taken 48 hours apart are identical and within your FG target.
  9. Sanitise your bottles and syphon. Transfer the beer, leaving 5cm of headspace. Add carbonation drops according to the pack instructions, or table sugar at 5g per litre.
  10. Store in a warm place for 2 weeks to carbonate, then in a cool, dark place for 1 week to clear. The beer is ready when clear, and its flavour will improve with age.
