Plum Porter is the latest beer kit in the popular St Peters brewery kit range. This 3kg kit brews 35 pints of a dark, sweet, full-bodied plum porter. Background notes of damson and blackcurrant are followed by the fruitiness of the plum in flavour and aroma.This 35 pint kit brews a rich and sweet porter with a final strength of about 5.0 % ABV.

St Peters Beer Kit Instructions

One of the best

I have to say I think this kit is one of my best in many years of homebrewing. It is fruity, smooth and has a good head all the way down the glass. I didn't make mine too carbonated, but it has turned out just fine. The yeast compacts very well at the bottom of the fermentation vessel and indeed the bottles after bottling, making for easy transfer to bottling vessel and easy pouring to the glass. Just about to order another. Cheers!

Good but needs time to mature

Have been buying the original in bottles weekly from a variety of supermarkets for last 2 years and really enjoy it. If I am honest this beer kit version (SO FAR) is a bit lacking in flavour and depth compared to shop bought but it is early days, only brewed it 2 months ago - hopefully it will improve in a few months time. Date Now November 2023.
Cost shop bought £1.60 - £1.70 from various supermarkets - Brew Kit from brew2 bottle (including caps and carriage - and re-using my old St. Peters Plum Porter shop bought empty bottles) approx. £0.85 per bottle - Not a great discount compared to other home brew beer kits - I will see how it tastes in 3 months time before re- ordering.

Smells amazing ! Brewing now and seems to be doing well. Too soon to give a taste review, obviously, but if it tastes as good as it smells then it'll be awesome.

Extremely useful brewing vessel

I like these, you can either use as a keg, or as a fermenter, either pressurized or not,you can go also go the whole hog and pressure ferment, cold crash, store to mature then serve from the same vessel. They also clean up very easily.

Turned out very nice

Good value kits.

I like the wort to be purely extract, and no added sugar, as these are. Unfortunately one of the cans in one kit had burst open, due to it being nakedly adjacent to its twin (in the box). Sadly this is the only time I've found the beer not clearing, and wonder if the exposed contens acquired an infection? I have taken photographs of the opened tin- a first in my experience!
