Have not tried it yet I'm waiting for it to age a while
This kit contains some thick, gloopy, dark brown stuff thats much like treacle but smells of malted milk biscuits. You do need to use some warm water to rinse out the packet otherwise you'll never get all you should have. I brewed this in a Pinter (actually split into 3 pinters) and did it until my ispindel said it was done (6 days!), cold crashed for 3 days, then conditioned for 6 more days. What I ended up with was a wonderful yorkshire bitter. I've got the ordinary bitter brewing at the moment, looking forwards to tasting that.
With free 1Kg of brewing sugar and free shipping if you spend over a certain amount, this is great value. I like the Ritchie's Simply kits, always work as it says it will and ferment no problem, with a great tasting result at the end of it all.
I'm not impressed. The overall feel and weight of the King Keg is better (more sturdy) than the ubiquitous 'own brand' ones out there, sadly that's all. The handles are held in place with plastic pins, the sealing neck rim isn't even and despite all the tips and tricks everywhere I have issues sealing the barrel.
