The SG kits have so far proved to be excellent value and produce good wines if care is taken in making and the final wine matured for at least 3 months. However, I was disappointed when tasting early bottles but after the maturing time of 3 months, preferably longer I was very pleasantly suprised as the improvement. The white Sauvignon Blanc needed less time to mature due to the low tannin content. The mid-range price kits produce wines that stand well against commercial product at just over £1.00 per bottle. I have bought several SG kits since, and I am building up a stock of different wines - my local hostelry is providing me with suitable capped wine bottles which I wash, sterilise and dry ready for the next delicious batches,
\i have no qualms about recommending these kits, I've used the Platinum ones rather than the gold, but those will be next to try and if they give as good results I will be brewing those.
