Inside the whiskey kit you’ll find authentic ingredients such as barley malt extract, dextrose, whiskey yeast & yeast nutrient, finings, and Kentucky bourbon oak chips for ageing your spirit. When used with a simple distillery set-up, you can craft distil an elegant, well-rounded, and refined whiskey spirit for oak-ageing. This kit will produce 4L of craft whiskey.

One big advantage for Grainfather owners, as well as using an incredibly well made and supported all-in-one home brewery, is you can also use it to make your own artisanal spirits with the inclusion of a little more hardware.

This can be done with the Alembic still which utilises the clips you already have on your Grainfather (yes, that’s what these are for!) to clamp down the copper dome. If it’s your first time, Still Spirits have created the perfect bundle for whiskey lovers based on a tried and tested malt extract recipe which includes all the ingredients you need to get going along with some comprehensive instructions.

If Gin is more your thing, there’s also the Artisan Gin ingredients kit which can be created with the addition of the botanical basket. This also includes all ingredients and full instructions.

If you’re not a Grainfather user, you just need to add the T500 boiler and you too can create artisanal spirits using the new Still Spirits range of ingredients kits.

They are still in the demijohn, so only time will tell how well that they have worked, but I don’t see any problems.

Good bit of kit

I’ve not actually used them yet, as the beer is still fermenting, but they seem fine.

ON THE ROCKS CIDER KITS from Ritchies

Great value cider kits. I have made both the Apple and Pear a few times with very consistent results using either dextrose or liquid enhancer. An ideal kit range for experimenting with water and sweetness levels.

FESTIVAL OAKED APPLE CIDER from Ritchies

A very interesting kit indeed even by Ritchies high standards. Airlock was active within several hours. I under primed my bottles for sparkling so my bad I can't give a fair account on that score. But the still ones were the best ever. A very noticeable smoothness early into maturation and that was with dextrose so can't imagine or even see the need for liquid enhancer in this case. Full bodied mid sweetness with a very fresh appealing aroma. 1 oz of the oak chips achieved a subtle influence I could easily increase without fear of over doing it. Used about half the dried fruit with similar feeling. Improved up to around 12 months in bottles and remained very good for many weeks after that. Special occasions rather than every day drinking - it is that good.

VWP 400g

It has been so long that I have forgotten how long I have been using this stuff. Very good value in the 400g size. Super reliable product for essential sterilization of homebrewing equipment. Generally handy to have in the kitchen as well. Can't fault VWP, even heavy soiling has usually lifted off the surface of vessels and utensils within 10-20 minutes. Rinses off well. The empty tubs also come in useful for sterilising/storing tiny items. I Recommend It!
