Fuggle was the dominant hop variety in England for over 70 years until the development of high-alpha varieties made it less economical for bittering purposes.\u003c\/p\u003e\r\n\u003cp\u003eThe delicate, minty, grassy, slightly floral aroma produces a clean, refreshing, full-bodied flavour present in many traditional ales. Often complimented by an addition of Golding to give the rounded, full-bodied flavour for which English Ales have became world-famous.\u003c\/p\u003e\r\n\u003cp\u003eProbably the most famous traditional English aroma variety, Fuggles are also grown in Slovenia as Styrian Golding and the USA as Oregon Fuggle. Fuggle is a low to moderate yielding aroma variety that matures early to mid-season. It is grown primarily in Herefordshire and Worcestershire after many of the Kent farms became infected with Verticillium Wilt. Several attempts have been made over the years to breed a wilt-resistant Fuggle but with very little success.\u003c\/p\u003e\r\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan style=\"font-size: 13px;\"\u003eWe weigh all hops only when there is an order for them – none have been sitting of shelves, they are taken out from a bulk vacuum sealed bag in cold storage at the time we complete your order. Our hop pellets are packaged inside UV protected polyethylene bags and vacuum sealed.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cbr style=\"font-size: 13px;\"\u003e\u003cbr style=\"font-size: 13px;\"\u003e\u003cspan style=\"font-size: 13px;\"\u003eSometimes the vacuum seal can degrade – especially if hop dust settles alongside where the bag is heat sealed. If you receive the hops and it appears that the vacuum is breaking down, the hops will still be perfectly safe to use with no degradation of flavour.\u0026amp;nbsp;If you do not intend to use then in a few days of receiving, we suggest that you store them in a fridge or freezer. Hop pellets stored near-freezing, preferably between -1°C and 5°C.
