Developed from the Canterbury Whitebine variety in the late 1700’s, they are grown exclusively in East Kent since 1838, now only by a handful of growers.\u003c\/p\u003e\r\n\u003cp\u003eThough primarily prized for their fine floral aroma EKG also give a smooth, honey-like bittering.\u003c\/p\u003e\r\n\u003cp\u003eEast Kent Goldings are a tall hop with loose low yielding cones that is unfortunately susceptible to both downy and powdery mildews and Verticilium Wilt. They have aslo been struggling in recent years with persistent drought in the South-East of the UK.\u003c\/p\u003e\r\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan style=\"font-size: 13px;\"\u003eWe weigh all hops only when there is an order for them – none have been sitting of shelves, they are taken out from a bulk vacuum sealed bag in cold storage at the time we complete your order. Our hop pellets are packaged inside UV protected polyethylene bags and vacuum sealed.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cbr style=\"font-size: 13px;\"\u003e\u003cbr style=\"font-size: 13px;\"\u003e\u003cspan style=\"font-size: 13px;\"\u003eSometimes the vacuum seal can degrade – especially if hop dust settles alongside where the bag is heat sealed. If you receive the hops and it appears that the vacuum is breaking down, the hops will still be perfectly safe to use with no degradation of flavour.\u0026amp;nbsp;If you do not intend to use then in a few days of receiving, we suggest that you store them in a fridge or freezer. Hop pellets stored near-freezing, preferably between -1°C and 5°C.
